For some time now, Aaron MacLean’s School of War has been one of the smartest listens on war and security affairs. I had the privilege of speaking with him on the latest episode, on the U.S. southern-border crisis. I encourage you to have a listen — especially if you’re missing The Hard Country while it’s on summer hiatus. Understanding the crisis in U.S.-Mexico relations as a national-security challenge, rather than strictly an immigration challenge, is key to grasping its full scope — and the difficult steps necessary to master it.

Unrelatedly, inspired by the ideological peregrinations of David French, I have penned The Conservative Case for Sauron, which I commend to any undecided voters in Gondor.
Finally, following up on the essay on This Sceptred Isle, one further item on Britain, or at least London: it is a superior place to buy books versus just about anywhere in the United States. Better design, better selection, better availability in every respect. Behold, I took advantage of the opportunity.
Much, much more to come.
